- A bit of background information:
- -----------------------------
- Revamp is a fairly developed prototype that demonstrates
- some of our ideas about music and interaction in a live performance
- situation. The prototype has a number of serious weaknesses, such as a tendancy
- to loose sync with Rebirth... However, it is fun to use, has been a good testbed,
- and might be of interest to other music heads. Please let us know what you think.
-
-
-
- Disclaimer
- ----------
- The authors accept no reponsibility for any loss or damage caused by the installation
- or use of Revamp.
-
-
-
- Using Revamp with your own Rebirth songs.
- ---------------------------------------
- Make sure to work to a revamp friendly BPM setting:
- 144, 120, 100, 96, 90 (sorry, we're working on this)
- We only support patterns of 16 notes in length (sorry again)
-
- Load your song into Rebirth
- Set it to the nearest Revamp friendly BPM setting
- Make sure Select patterns from Keyboard is activated in the options menu
- Make sure you are in Pattern mode
- Make sure the pattern and mix buttons are active on each synth
-
- Turn off Distortion, PCF and compression on each synth.
- Centre the pan control for each synth
- Turn Delay to zero for each synth
- Set volume to full power for each synth
-
- Set PCF Q to full, the other 3 sliders to zero.
- Set master volume to -5 (where it usually is)
-
-
- => This version of Revamp does not control the following parameters:
- Use Rebirth to set these:
-
- PCF Pattern, Mode, AMT, and DEC
- Distortion shape
- Delay steps and quarter/triplet
- Compression settings
- Waveform settings
- Tune and Env. Mod. on each synth
- Most of the drum controllers
-
-
- => Audio Samples: (Mac version only)
- For this version we have no smooth way to change the samples.
- If you are pushed, the samples in the sound folder are system7 format
- and you can stick in your own if you keep the naming.
-
-
-
- Known Bugs with version 0.3.10
- ----------------------------
- There are sometimes problems with Macs on a LAN.
- Using Macintosh Revamp makes other Macs on the network temporarily invisible.
- Cure: Restart
-
- Some Macintoshs freeze on a black screen when trying to run Revamp.
- Cure: Force a quit (Cmd-Opt-Esc) and try again, this usually works.
-
- Sequencing sometimes misses a pattern. This is due to the way in which remote
- MIDI control of Rebirth is achieved, and Macromedia Director's rather casual approach to
- timekeeping.
